About me

Hello my name is Daeun, a UIC sophomore currently majoring in IID and CDM. I'm Korean by blood but I spent most of my academic years in the Philippines. You can approach me in either English or Korean and I'll be sure to share a fun conversation!

I was and still am passionate in working with fields of art as far as I could remember. I invest most of my time in working on different art mediums, be in traditional forms or digital. Through this process, I gained experiences in utilizing a variety of Adobe programs, and digital tools; exploring my interests and figuring out which I excel in. I've participated in several charity driven magazine productions in the online community, actively participated in school journalism organizations as a head visual artist and layout designer.
To mention few of the things that I am interested in:
I love instruments! I may not be gifted with perfect pitches, large hands or music skills; but I adore listening to instrumental music, figuring out its track layers, and break down the instruments used. It's a really fascinating process how composers create such atmosphere and imagery with audio. I have commissioned composers to write personal music for me and I still love them to this day!
Pardon me for being overly repetitive, but I love arts! During my freetime, I draw. During my worktime, I draw too! I'm confident in drawing a variety of subjects, and willing to learn more! I enjoy drawing people, animals, objects and nature, and currently, I'm focusing in developing my skills in background art and hoping to learn more animation. How I view my major and the course "Interaction Design" is a more technical and corporate interpretation of arts and design, made by and made for people. I personally have not much solid idea on exactly what I will be facing throughout the semester, but I am assuming that I will be learning more about social, physical, and emotional interaction and user experiences.

One of the things that changed the course of my life is when I started earning through commission works. Clients would approach me for artworks of any kind, and I provide whatever they have in their mind. The process of discussing the details of work, and earning through the things that I love doing just sparked something in me. That my dream would be a freelance artist. It is a humble job, and I genuinely do not aim to earn an excessive amount of money. I simply would love to live while creating the things that I like.
